What Unites Us: Election season can be tough. We focus on our side of an issue, our point of view. We often see what divides us from others.

But, there are so many things that unite us. Sharing favorite childhood memories, rooting for the same team, gushing over our shared favorite authors. We’re all human and we have so many things to share with each other, even when we feel divided—especially when we feel divided.

Come together with other Mainers for this virtual program where we’ll focus on the many wonderful things that we share with each other. This isn’t the time for political debate, so please leave your politics at the door. This is time to come together to discover what unites us.

Here's how this will work: Participants join virtually via Zoom. A moderator will ask a topic question. Participants choose a breakout room based on their answer to the question and discuss for ~10 minutes. Each room has a librarian moderator. After 10 minutes are up, participants join back into the larger Zoom Room and another question is asked. The breakout room process repeats.

Registration is required for this event so that you can receive the Zoom link. Please register here with our pals at Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library.

This program is part of MECollab, a collaborative programming partnership between libraries throughout the state of Maine. Libraries participating in What Unites Us are Auburn Public Library, Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, Camden Public Library, Curtis Memorial Library, Falmouth Memorial Library, Patten Free Library, Portland Public Library, Prince Memorial Library, and Scarborough Public Library.
