Local Author Book Reading & Presentation by Lisa Wentzell at the Falmouth Memorial Library

This is a perfect event for families with children of all ages. Lisa, along with her son Scotty, will read from their book, A Dog & His Boy; The Adventures of Spillway & Scotty, a heartwarming story about their family’s journey of living with a disability. Scotty was born with a chromosomal disorder that causes developmental delays. The book describes how Scotty forms a unique and special friendship with his stuffed dog, Spillway. Together, this duo takes you on a journey through Scotty’s life where they experience acceptance, empathy, and inclusion during their unique time together. The hope is that audience members will learn that even though Scotty has differing abilities, it doesn’t define or limit him, and with all of these opportunities he is living his life to the fullest. Scotty has a unique friendship with Spillway that reminds us that we all want a sense of belonging. This presentation will highlight the importance of celebrating our differences and that with a little determination, creativity, and support of friends, anything is possible.
