Event Details

(There will be a reception for Rick in the atrium of the library from 5pm-5:30pm. All are welcome.)

Graphic Novelist Rick Parker joins us to talk about his new book, Drafted, and to tell us a bit about the creative process behind creating a graphic novel. He'll show examples of the process from start to finish.

Drafted is a graphic novel memoir by Rick Parker, a shy, inexperienced, and overly protected teenager who gets drafted into the United States Army at the height of the Vietnam War. The looming threat of deployment informs every aspect of his life, from the most ludicrous experiences to the grimmest tests of endurance.

Rick Parker is a cartoonist and humor writer who is known the world over as the artist of MTV's Beavis and Butt-Head Comic Book Series, published by Marvel Comics (1994-1996). He was the artist of The Ghoulunatics (Crypt Keeper, Vault Keeper and The Old Witch) when Tales From The Crypt was relauched in 2007. His graphic novel, "Deadboy" was self-published in 2008. He lives in Falmouth, Maine.
