Jewish Resistance During the Holocaust

Did Jews resist German Nazis during the Holocaust?  They did. Jews resisted the Nazis in many ways and in virtually every place, from the very beginning of the Nazi rise to power to the last days of World War II. This program looks at the different types of Jewish resistance, the obstacles the Jews faced, the outcomes of that resistance and how it is remembered today. Join us in celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month!

Registration is not required. Register if you would like to receive an email reminder.

About the Presenter
Erica Nadelhaft grew up in a tradition where one is obligated to try to make a piece of the world better. “But obligated is the wrong word,” she notes, “because this work is a privilege and a joy, an extension of who I am.”

Erica earned a B.A. Magna Cum Laude from Brandeis University; an M.A. Summa Cum Laude from the Institute of Contemporary Jewry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; and is A.B.D. from the Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies at Brandeis. She reads and works in four languages: Hebrew, Yiddish, Polish and German. Professionally, she has taught courses on world history, the history of genocide, World War II, the history of the Middle East, women’s history, introduction to Judaism, and Hebrew, among others, in the University of Maine system. In her current role, Erica oversees the Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine educators, coordinates school visits, develops new programs, works with districts to address prejudice, and collaborates with the Maine Department of Education to develop online learning modules for every grade level in Maine.
