Native Plants and Habitat Gardening Workshop

In partnership with the Falmouth Land Trust, the Falmouth Memorial Library is pleased to offer a program about habitat gardening and using native plants  We hope you'll join us for this free program!

Our gardens are places that bring joy and satisfaction to their human caretakers. How can we ensure that these spaces also offer what our non-human neighbors need to survive? Safe nesting spots for bees, nectar for butterflies, berries ripening just in time to sustain birds on their southern migration--our gardens can provide all of this and more. In this talk, we'll discuss various ways to improve the habitat value of our own yards, no matter how big or small. We'll cover how to choose appropriate native plants, how to convert lawn to perennial gardens, and strategies to maintain those gardens for years to come.

Registration is not required. However, those who register will receive an email reminder a day before the event, and it helps us plan for the program.

Kelly Corbin is an ecologically-based landscape designer and consultant based in South Portland. A former science teacher and alum of both Antioch New England University and The Conway School of Landscape Design, Kelly firmly believes that every yard has the potential to offer vibrant habitat to our native pollinators, birds, and other wildlife while also offering joy and connection to their human stewards. She offers her clients a deeper understanding of the nature in their backyards and guidance on how to create truly living landscapes.
